Life in the host family

When the bus arrived in Kilkenny my Hostmom was already waiting for me and greeted me very friendly. Then we drove to their house where I stayed 4 weeks. The house is really on the countryside, so it is was not that easy to get to town, but my hostmom was very friendly and drove me to the train station when I wanted to meet my friends. Then I first met my hostdad, my 4 hostsisters and my hostbrother. I immediately felt like a family member because they were all so welcoming to me and chatted with me. The first 2 weeks a girl from Spain also stayed in the host family. After one week 2 more students arrived from Slovenia. Moreover, in the third week another Spanish student arrived. So we were a lot of people in the house and it was never quiet. But through that I chatted a lot and know new people from different countries. I also had a dog, 2 cats, 5 kittens and some hens. At the weekend we drove to their farm which is like 5 minutes  away from their home. There they have cows and calves. During the week, when I had to work, my hostmom drove me to my workplace at 9 a.m. and usually picked me up at 5 p.m. All of my hostsisters play camogie. Furthermore my hostbrother plays hurling too. So I often went with my hostfamily when they were playing a camogie or hurling match. Moreover, I went for a walk with my youngest hostsister almost every day and talked a lot with her. To sum up, I would like to say that it is such a great experience to stay in a hostfamily and that you also learn about the culture and not just the language.
